Pictures From Alaska

My first view of the Alaska mountains. It's a beautiful site. We really lucked out on the weather. It rained on and off for 3 days and the rest of the week was sunny and in the 60's.

On Sunday afternoon we went to a Lumberjack Show. The guy on the right in the red and black checkered shirt is from Sault Ste.Marie. It was his first day on the job.

We stayed at the Gilmore Hotel Saturday night. The Gilmore is said to be a haunted hotel. We did not see any ghosts but we did have a strange experience. While we were sitting in our room we heard what sounded like car backfire or a gun shot and pellets hit our window. We looked outside and there was nothing out there. No car on the road and no rain to hit our window. This happened 3 or 4 times. Strange I have to say. And no we had not been drinking.

This is a picture of the Cedars Lodge where we stayed Sunday night before we went out on the charter Halibut fishing.

Here I am getting ready to catch my first Halibut. Little did I know that Halibut are bottom feeders and I would have to pull that baby up from 400 feet. It seemed like that fish would never reach the top and come out of the water.

LeeAnna's mom had the big catch of the day. Her halibut weighed 60.4.

Here is Silverking Lodge. We stayed here Monday through Sunday. Silverking lodge is on a island and it's the only place on this island. It seemed funny to have have any cars around and everywhere you went you had to go by boat.

LeeAnna and I showing off our first catch of the morning. I was great we both had fish on the line and the same time.

Here is our first catch from Tuesday morning. It went much better than Monday. We found out that the fishing was best between 6:30 and 8:00 in the morning.

There were 2 mom's and 2 baby deer around the lodge everyday looking for food.

I just love this picture of one of the little ones.

I have more pictures and will post them in a day or so.

Comments:
How beautiful! But, it looks cold too.
